Quantum Scientific Pty Ltd was established in 1971 as a supplier of general laboratory equipment to the Educational and Scientific markets. Early products offered included educational items, glassware and general chemicals.

The company was purchased by Derek Brown and Andrew Carmody formerly of the Bio-Research group at Beckman Instruments in 1993.  After the purchase of the company, the new owners began the process of restructuring and re-focusing the company into a highly effective supplier of equipment and consumables to the "Life Scientist". New products such as Centrifuges, Ultra Low temperature freezers, CO₂ Incubators, LN₂ vessels, and research grade plasticware etc. were added to the range, thus creating one of the most complete offerings to the Australian-based Life Scientist.

In March 2005, Quantum Scientific was purchased by Global Science and Technology of New Zealand. At this time they also had a presence as owner of Progen Biosciences.

In July of the same year, Quantum and Progen Biosciences were merged under the Quantum Scientific banner which added exciting new products in the form of a complete offering of kits and reagents for the Life Scientist. This also saw the addition of highly knowledgeable and experienced people to the team.

From humble beginnings of three, today the company has grown to almost fifty people and offers some of the highest quality brands available in today's marketplace. With its Headquarters based in Brisbane and regional offices in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia, the company is well placed to service its highly valued existing and new clients. Our Technical Support group boasts 8 engineers nationally to provide excellent servicing and support to our customers.
